Missed

It’s interesting how our emotions have an effect on our perception of reality. The mood we keep can cause the world around us to look a certain way, for the hours to feel longer or shorter, for the fun to shine brighter or to appear dull.

I thought this an interesting concept, so I wrote poem with that in mind:

MISSED

I was woken by this feeling
of hours sailing away.
The alarm clock read
late morning but
the sky was deeply
dilated.
Seven hours in and
already I miss the
kind of sunny robust day
that likes to flaunt her
aureate wares.
These vacant hours,
stretched and dragging,
feel like a week,
a week that droops
until it reminds me
of a solid month of
solitude.
