To Look Inside

I tend to think that all art is just an actualization of some introspection. We can stop and look at anything, anyone, any situation, peel back that top layer and look to see the how and why of it all. And when we write a poem, compose a song, or paint a picture, we’re putting those questions and speculations down.
I thought about motivations when I penned this poem. Maybe the motivation for certain deeds doesn’t extend much farther than ourselves…

The Un-Hero

I step on spiders when
I’m feeling
Not for little old ladies
Not for my arachnophobic
friend, trapped in a corner
Just gonna walk past
beckoning shrieks
over Black Widows
and Daddy Long Legs
I’m only troubled about
the villains
at my feet.
